The December 2008 media audit carried out by BPA Worldwide on various industry publications has confirmed that AV Specialist has more qualified individuals who’ve requested a personal copy (subscribers) than any other publication covering the broadcast and professional AV industry across Africa and the Middle East. Based on exceptional editorial content, AV Specialist is clearly the first choice read amongst industry professionals in the market.
“Now that Digital Studio has completed their initial BPA audit we can finally evaluate their distribution claims against a reliable and verified set of data,” says AV Specialist publisher Kevan Jones, stressing that while circulations are obviously important, superior editorial content remains the primary factor that defines AV Specialist in the marketplace. “We include regular contributions from some of the most respected journalists in the broadcast world. Anybody that has taken the time to read our magazine will readily acknowledge our superiority. We provide content that’s uniquely geared to the needs of the broadcast and ProAV markets in Africa and the Middle East.”
A few key figures extracted from the BPA audit report clearly reflect our dominant position.
• 83.4% of AV Specialist copies are sent to individuals who have personally requested their subscription. The magazine has a personal, one-to-one relationship with these people and is able to communicate with them on an individual basis. As a comparison, only 34.9% of subscribers to Digital Studio have requested a personal subscription.
• Only 11.5% of AV Specialist copies are sent without solicitation to qualified individuals identified in business directories and other third-party sources. As a direct comparison, 54.8% of Digital Studio copies are sent to companies who have never requested a subscription or corresponded with the publisher in any way whatsoever.
• AV Specialist is distributed to subscribers in more than 40 countries across Africa and the Middle East. Only 19.5% of the total circulation goes to recipients outside the magazine’s primary coverage area. Distribution is balanced across the region with no single country accounting for more than 30% of total distribution. Compare this with Digital Studio where 45.5% of total circulation falls into Europe, Asia and North America. Only 51.5% of total circulation actually falls within the Middle East and of this, the vast majority (68%) is distributed within the United Arab Emirates.
“From a detailed analysis of the circulation data it is clear that, despite the higher total circulation figures attributed to Digital Studio, we have two clear advantages over them,” says circulation manager Anne Ebrahim. “First, we have a direct, one-to-one relationship with recipients who have requested a personal subscription to the magazine, and second, we’re distributed across a broad geographic area that includes more than 40 countries within Africa and the Middle East. For many years, AV Specialist has stood alone in providing BPA-audited circulation data to our clients. Now that other magazines in the region have submitted to an independent audit by BPA, we can proudly proclaim that AV Specialist is clearly the market leader.”
